australia road mapThe Big trip or the Big Lap refers to Driving around Australia and is the dream of many travellers’. To drive around Australia including Tasmania and driving to Central Australia is about 20,000 kilometres for a basic trip.

But you are more likely to travel about 25,000 to 30,000 kilometres as there is many places to see and side roads to take you to beautiful places like Uluru and many other National Parks for example. The suggested time that this would take is 6 to 9 months or more.

Many people don’t realise how big Australia is, it is actually far larger than all of Europe and slightly smaller than United States. It may be an island but it is huge.

If you don’t have the time needed to travel around Australia, driving around the eastern or western half of Australia is a great option. To do this allow at least 2 months, but 3 or 4 months would be better.

Travelling Australia is an amazing experience and has to be seen to be believed as it is very special and unique in many ways. Once you have holidayed anywhere in Australia you will want to see and experience more whenever you can.
