Types of Accommodation

In Australia there is an amazing range of different accommodation available – from budget camping to very luxurious resorts and boutique hotels. Below I have listed the most common types of accommodation available.

CAMPING

Camping includes tenting, camper trailers, campervans, caravans, motor homes, cabins and fifth wheelers etc. and camping can be done in tourist parks, national & state parks and many more locations. Different campsites can offer different types of sites, e.g. free and paid sites, unpowered and powered sites.

BED AND BREAKFAST

B & B accommodation offers bed and breakfast, usually in a private house. B & Bs usually accommodate no more than 6 guests, and may or may not serve an evening meal.

CARAVAN PARKS, HOLIDAY PARKS, TOURIST PARKS

Parks offer cabins as well as powered and unpowered camping sites for all campers.

Apartment block buildings are often located along our coastal roads and can range from 2 storeys high to towers with many floors. They are mostly self-contained with everything supplied so they are very convenient. They can also offer great views.

Motels and Motor Inns are very common virtually in every town. They are very convenient as everything is supplied and they usually have a pool and a restaurant.

HOUSEBOATS

Houseboats are quite easy to operate and you don't need to hold a boat licence to do so. One of the joys of house boating is that you can pull up virtually anywhere.
