<p>A ferry runs from <a href=" http://www.searoad.com.au/" target="_blank"><strong>Queenscliff to Sorrento</strong></a> across the other side of Port Phillip Bay</p>
<p>From Geelong the drive to Melbourne is on the Princes Freeway and is about 75 kilometres.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2282" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/14/torquay-geelong-melbourne-to-portsea-in-victoria-itinerary/geelong_aussie_lifesavers/"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-2282" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="geelong_Aussie_Lifesavers" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/geelong_Aussie_Lifesavers-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>There is plenty to do and see in <strong><a href="http://visitgreatoceanroad.org.au/great-ocean-road/destinations/geelong" target="_blank">Geelong</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.visitmelbourne.com/" target="_blank">Melbourne</a></strong> so you may like to stay at both cities and see the sights, attractions, shops and events for several days or weeks.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2283" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/14/torquay-geelong-melbourne-to-portsea-in-victoria-itinerary/melbourne_downtown/"></a></p>

<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-2284" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/14/torquay-geelong-melbourne-to-portsea-in-victoria-itinerary/portsea_beachbeach/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2284" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="portsea_beachBeach" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/portsea_beachBeach-200x150.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="150" /></a>If you choose to go to the Mornington Peninsula then you will drive on the Nepean Highway to Mornington, Rosebud, Rye, <strong><a href="http://www.virtualsorrento.com.au/" target="_blank">Sorrento</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.00068A54-1F80-1A65-88CD80C476A90318/" target="_blank">Portsea</a></strong>  which is about 100 kms from Melbourne.</p>
<p>If you are interested in going to <strong><a href="http://www.discovertasmania.com/" target="_blank">Tasmania</a></strong> the &#8216;Spirit of Tasmania&#8217; Ferry leaves from Melbourne and arrives at Devonport Tasmania and travels daily. The other option to get to Tasmania is to fly then hire a vehicle.</p>
<p>Driving from Torquay to Geelong, Melbourne around Port Phillip Bay to Portsea can be as relaxing or exciting as you want to make it. This is a small section of driving around Australia that you can do as it is a huge country to drive around.</p>

Has breath taking scenery at every turn and you can enjoy many attractions along the way, including shipwrecks, beautiful beaches and stunning coastline.</p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The Great OceanRoad travels through three regions. The  Shipwreck Coast, the Otways and the Surf Coast.</span></p>
<p>The Great Ocean Road is the world’s biggest war memorial, dedicated to all Victorian soldiers who died fighting in the First World War. About 3000 returned soldiers constructed it in 13 years, with workers living in camps set in the nearby bush. <a href="http://www.visitmelbourne.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.000B0F74-BC3B-1A62-88CD80C476A90318/" target="_blank"><strong>Building the Great Ocean Road</strong></a></p>
<p><strong> Warnambool to Apollo Bay about 160 kilometres</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.shipwreckcoast.com/1024/index.html" target="_blank"><strong>Shipwreck Coast</strong></a> stretches from Port Fairy (west of Warnambool) to Cape Otway</p>
<p><strong>Starting from</strong> <a href="http://www.visitwarrnambool.com.au/" target="_blank"><strong>Warnambool</strong></a>   </p>
<p>The Great Ocean Road starts several kilometres past Warnambool near Allansford.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-1688" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/01/great-ocean-road-tour-in-victoria-warnambool-to-torquay/whales-2/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1688" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="Whales" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Whales-200x150.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="150" /></a>Warnambool was once a flourishing fishing and whaling port and today, it is still a prime whale<em> </em>watching location.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-1684" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/01/great-ocean-road-tour-in-victoria-warnambool-to-torquay/loch_ard_gorge/"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-1684" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="Loch_Ard_Gorge" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Loch_Ard_Gorge-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>From Warnambool you will drive towards the coast to Peterborough and then travel to <strong><a href="http://www.warrnamboolcam.com/portcam.htm" target="_blank">Port Campbell</a></strong>, on the way you will see London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge at Port Campbell.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-1685" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/01/great-ocean-road-tour-in-victoria-warnambool-to-torquay/apostles/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1685" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="apostles" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/apostles-200x150.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="150" /></a></p>
<p>After Port Campbell you will see the famous <strong><a href="http://www.visit12apostles.com.au/" target="_blank">Twelve Apostles</a></strong> which are situated in the Port Campbell National Park.</p>
<p>#The <strong><a href="http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.4AE3F158-9782-45D6-A7FC88F3C040AFAD" target="_blank">Great Ocean  Walk</a></strong> is about 104 kilometres and starts near the 12 Apostles and finishes at Apollo Bay</p>
<p><a href="http://www.visitvictoria.com/displayobject.cfm/objectid.4AE3F158-9782-45D6-A7FC88F3C040AFAD/"></a></p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-1691" href="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/2010/04/01/great-ocean-road-tour-in-victoria-warnambool-to-torquay/cape_otway_lightstation/"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1691" style="border: black 1px solid;" title="Cape_Otway_Lightstation" src="http://www.yourguidetravelaustralia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Cape_Otway_Lightstation-200x150.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="150" /></a>From Port Campbell you will travel along the coast to Princetown and then inland to Lavers Hill to Glenaire. Cape Otway is off the main road on the coast and well worth visiting, here you will see <strong><a href="http://www.lightstation.com/" target="_blank">Cape Otway Lightstation</a></strong> which is the oldest, surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">The Great Ocean Road Tour is not very long in kilometres when referring to length. So it could be driven in about 2 days, but to really enjoy everything along the way you could spend a week or two touring this stunning and interesting region of Victoria.<br />
